What is a link bracelet?

Watches with a link bracelet feature a metal bracelet made up of several movable elements connected to one another. These individual links allow the bracelet to adapt to the shape of the wrist. Stainless steel is commonly used, although titanium, precious metals or combinations of different materials may also be used depending on the watch.

The individual elements of a watch link bracelet are flexibly connected using pins, sleeves, screws or other connecting systems. This allows the metal bracelet to remain flexible even though the individual links themselves largely retain their shape.

On many metal link bracelets, the length can be adjusted by removing or adding individual links. Some clasps also provide additional adjustment positions for a more precise fit. The construction and adjustment options vary depending on the manufacturer and model.

Removable links are often identified by markings on the inside of the bracelet. On screwed constructions, the relevant connecting screws are loosened. Other systems use pins that are pushed out with a suitable tool.

Link bracelets are robust, durable and resistant to moisture. Their construction therefore makes them suitable for everyday, sports and diving watches as well as classic and elegant wristwatches.
