Care tips for wristwatches

To enjoy your watch for as long as possible, it is advisable to learn about its specific characteristics, such as water resistance, to know the correct way to store it, and to follow the care and cleaning instructions.

Regular cleaning

Use a soft cloth to clean your watch and regularly remove dust and sweat residue. We recommend cleaning metal bracelets with a mild soap solution.

Protection against moisture

The resistance of a watch to water is often misinterpreted. Information regarding water resistance does not necessarily mean that a watch can withstand exposure to dishwater, shower water or bath water.

Please also note that on some watches, the crown must be unscrewed in order to use special functions. With the crown open, many watches immediately draw in water. Therefore, always check the condition of the crown before exposing your watch to water.

As a general rule, if you value the water resistance of your watch, you should have it checked once a year. Seals age and become brittle, and ageing, wear and tear and damage can cause additional damage.

Proper storage

Protect your timepieces from dust, accidental damage, impact or inactivity. We offer a wide selection of watch display cases, watch boxes, watch rolls and watch cases as well as high-quality watch winders.

Service interval

Mechanical watches should be taken to a watchmaker for inspection every 5 years. Oils can become resinous or evaporate and need to be replaced. This helps to prevent mechanical wear or bearing damage in the movement.
