What is a silicone Strap?

Watches with a silicone strap feature a flexible strap made from silicone rubber. The synthetic material is soft, elastic, water-resistant and can be produced in many colors and shapes. Silicone straps are therefore frequently used for sports watches, smartwatches, children's watches and casual watches.

Silicone absorbs very little water and is easy to clean. A silicone watch strap is therefore suitable for sports, everyday wear and activities involving frequent contact with water. However, whether a watch can be worn while swimming depends on the specified water resistance of the watch case.

The elasticity of silicone allows the strap to follow the movements of the wrist. The material then largely returns to its original shape. This property provides a flexible fit during physical activity.

A silicone watch strap is lightweight, flexible and water-resistant. Sweat and dirt can usually be removed with water and mild soap. Unlike a leather strap, the material requires no special care products and does not corrode.
